Crossing the OS Language Barrier

I got the idea to switch over my operating system into Chinese, but I never thought I’d actually do it.

Finally, two weeks ago, I did.

I went to my local 燦坤 (a chain electronics store) and ordered up my Traditional Chinese version of Windows 7.

This completely changed the playing field. If you tend to use your computer a lot (and I do at work), it adds a whole new depth to your L2 language environment. Every error message freaks you out, but it forces you to read through it carefully and figure out what is going on.

I’ve found my reading ability and speed has increased just by making this change.

If you can swing it, I strongly suggest the change.

Of course if you use Macs or Linux you just have to change your OS system language settings.
